LVP vs. Tile: Which Flooring Is Right for Your Orlando Home?

Wide-plank LVP flooring next to large-format tile flooring, Line Flooring project LVP vs. Tile: Which Flooring Is Ri

Homeowners across Orlando almost always narrow their flooring decision down to the same two finalists: luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and tile. Both hold up well in Florida's climate, and both look better than they did a decade ago — but they solve different problems.

Comfort underfoot

LVP has a slight give to it and stays warmer to the touch, which matters more than people expect once they're standing at a kitchen sink for twenty minutes. Tile is harder and colder underfoot, which some homeowners prefer in Florida's heat and others find uncomfortable in bedrooms and living rooms.

Water and humidity

Both handle Florida humidity well when installed correctly. Tile has the edge in fully wet areas like shower floors and pool bathrooms, since it's waterproof at the surface. LVP is highly water-resistant and performs well in kitchens, living areas, and even full baths outside the wet shower zone itself.

Cost and installation time

LVP is generally faster and less expensive to install than tile, since there's no thinset, no grout curing time, and less specialized labor involved. Tile installation takes longer and costs more, but often reads as a more premium, permanent finish in bathrooms and entryways.

Our honest take

For most main living areas and bedrooms, LVP is the practical choice for Central Florida homes. For wet areas — showers, tub surrounds, and pool bathrooms — tile is still the right call. Many of the homes we work on use both: LVP throughout the living space, tile in the bathrooms.
